Moto G6 Plus review | Trusted Reviews

What is the Moto G6 Plus?
Motorola launched a three of budget smartphones before this year, namely p.m. impressive Moto G6 Play, p.m. excellent Moto G6 if the model reviewed hair, the Moto G6 Plus.
As its moniker suggests, it’s the model for fans of larger handsets, besides a 5.9-inch screen about the 5.7 inches fro its fellow namesakes.
But there’s more here to draw beyond a bigger screen. Motorola has given at G6 Plus welcome proceeding and spec upgrades. While these mean it costs £40 more SIM-free than the G6, and a sign £100 more than at G6 Play, it does plenty to justify its top billing.
It successfully takes much of what we already loved about afternoon G6 and improves obliquely those foundations, resulting pending a smartphone that common feels more premium than its price.

Moto G6 Plus – Design
While the G6 Plus is the larger sibling, s/he isn’t actually that nearly bigger than the G6 Play and G6 whereas placed side-by-side. Part fro this is down near the 18:9 aspect lot of all the phones, which makes all triad models pretty tall near start off.
Left to right: Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus
Not surprisingly, the G6 Plus shares much of its central design with night G6, rather than night more budget-friendly G6 Play. This means it sports the same metal frame paired with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass on the raise, rather than the cheaper polymer of the G6 Play.
As a result, at G6 Plus feels major premium than you sway have first imagined, together with offers a big footprint up from previous Moto G phones.
The Gorilla Glass back is as glossy as you’d expect, which unfortunately composition it’s a magnet later fingerprints and greasy marks.
While the lack of strength makes the phone feeling great in your hands, and surprisingly light, farther, the material is more slippery to hold.
As a business, on one occasion I nigh lost the review telephone when it slipped expel of my pocket thwart a bus. Thankfully, neoteric life has trained my ass to persistently check mine pockets before moving spaces.
Otherwise, the G6 Plus has the same button layout of the G6, w/ the same arrangement off USB-C ports and headphone jack along the bottom.
The fingerprint scanner, too, sits beneath the display. I didn’t really have any problems with the scanner within testing, although I have a lot of folks who now prefer hindmost placements. Personally, I further them on the foremost so I can unlock a phone with male on a table. There are other unlock methods available here as wellspring, including a basic looking unlock.
However, p.m. fingerprint scanner is a available option as Motorola’s Android customisations include ‘one knob navigation’, which lets him hide the on-screen shipping buttons in favour from using the fingerprint scanner.
A tap acts like p.m. Home button, a leftward swipe as Back, if a right-swipe as p.m. Recent Apps button. It works well and theme more screen space since your apps, and likewise means I don’t accidentally bash the Home knob when aiming for at space bar on at keyboard.
It might have been nice to have zenith swipe options as skilled on Huawei phones fro old to bring wholly the notification pane, besides there’s so little walk under the display I may see why these protect omitted.
Really, the only little of the design I encounter minor issue with is that camera bump amiss the back. It’s lovely pronounced, so the call won’t lie flat; they feels like it ought be enshrouded by a Moto Mod (these aren’t supported).
It does in least add some anthropomorphic charm as the double lenses and LED appearance underneath look like a face. Motorola has used day etch outline around afternoon edge of the camera’s protruding glass circle.
I’ve noticed that dust and lint have a habit from gathering at the groveling, however. Combined with afternoon fingerprints left on night rear, the Moto G6 Plus can become little grubby-looking unless you wipe it down regularly.
Ultimately, these issues feel a pelham nit-picky for a call that’s as inexpensive inasmuch as this. For the prime part, the G6 Plus certainly punches above its price point.
Moto G6 Plus – Screen
The G6 Plus, whereas having a larger 5.9-inch display, shares the ditto FHD+ resolution of night G6, so pixel density is lower. It isn’t something you’ll notice over day-to-day use, however.
Colours decametre punchy and vibrant, as well as I didn’t find evening display’s colour temperature yet cold out of evening box – unlike evening G6. You can gauge the temperature in evening settings, as well afterwards switch between Vibrant gold Standard colour modes (it’s set to Vibrant aside default, which is whereto I left it).
The maximum brightness is high enough to nowt make outdoor use a problem. The adaptive brightness worked well enough and I didn’t notice any instances wherever the brightness adjusted frenetically.
I really handsome some of the Moto Display customisations. These tin show notifications on in display when the ring is in standby, if also let you speedily reply to notifications outside having to unlock your phone. The proximity sensory also turns on p.m. display when you spread for it.
